West Hills Radiation Therapy Center Welcomes New Radiation Oncologist, Sumita Bhatia, M.D.

WEST HILLS, CA — West Hills Radiation Therapy Center – Vantage Oncology, a state-of-the-art radiation oncology facility, and Valley Radiotherapy Associates (VRA), a prestigious team of over thirty cancer experts, recently announced that Sumita Bhatia, M.D. has joined their practice as the first female radiation oncologist to treat West San Fernando Valley patients. Dr. Bhatia is a member of the American Society of Therapeutic Radiation and Oncology with special training in High Dose Rate (HDR) Brachytherapy, 3-D treatment planning, Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Image-Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT), Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), and Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT).

Prior to her arrival, Dr. Bhatia served as Chief Resident in radiation oncology physician at the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, MN. She received her Bachelor of Arts and Doctor of Medicine degrees from the University of Missouri in Kansas City where she was also a student instructor in Medical Physiology and Biochemistry. Dr. Bhatia continued her academic pursuits as a clinical researcher of gastrointestinal malignancies in the Department of Radiation Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX and completed an internship at UCLA Harbor County Hospital in Torrance, CA.
