Robert B. Summe, MD - Cincinnati Hemotology-Oncology, Inc.
Robert Summe, MD, is a native of the Greater Cincinnati area, growing up in Fort
Mitchell, Kentucky. He returned to the Cincinnati area after completing his graduate and
post graduate training. Dr. Summe excelled in medical school at the University of
Louisville School of Medicine. Dr. Summe completed his training at The George
Washington University Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He received training in
Internal Medicine and completed a residency in Radiation Oncology, including a year as
Chief Resident of Radiation Oncology and Biophysics. After completing his postgraduate residencies, Dr.
Summe returned to the Cincinnati area where he joined CHO as the Director of Radiation Oncology. Dr. Summe has a significant interest in research activities. He has completed studies and published on
pediatric astrocytomas, stereotactic radiation techniques, and Langerhan’s histiocytosis. Some of his
current interests involve radiation protectors and combined modality treatments, looking at the best
integration of radiation and systemic therapies. Dr. Summe has been a featured speaker at several
community and professional meetings. He is the tumor board moderator at the Christ Hospital. He
participates in RTOG, NSABP, SWOG and independent group cancer studies. Dr. Summe is trained in
brachytherapy, stereotactic radiation, 3-D radiation, as well as intensity modulated radiation.
