BROOKLYN RADIATION ONCOLOGY, LLC ACQUIRES METROPOLITAN RADIATION ONCOLOGY FACILITY
Joint Venture to Provide High Quality, Innovative Care to South Brooklyn Community
BROOKLYN, N.Y. (August 29, 2005) – Brooklyn Radiation Oncology, LLC,has acquired. Brooklyn Radiation Oncology, LLC is a joint venture between Vantage Oncology Inc., an El Segundo, Calif.-based developer of state-of-the-art radiation oncology facilities and Brooklyn Radiation Oncology, PC. Brooklyn Radiation Oncology, PC, which will operate the facility, is spearheaded by Louis Harrison, M.D., Director of the Continuum Cancer Centers of New York and Chairman of Radiation Oncology at Beth Israel Medical Center and St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospitals.
Metropolitan Radiation Oncology PC, headed by Marvin Rotman, M.D., Distinguished Service Professor and Chairman of Radiation Oncology at SUNY Downstate and Long Island College Hospital will associate with Brooklyn Radiation Oncology, PC to provide professional services at the current facility and at the new state-of-the-art cancer facility that Brooklyn Radiation Oncology, PC is opening in October on Avenue X and 21st Street that was announced last week. Dr. Paul Gliedman, Associate Director of Continuum Cancer Centers, has been appointed the Medical Director of the new venture. Dr. Rotman and his partner, David Schwartz, M.D., who is President of the Medical Board and Chief of Radiation Oncology at Peninsula Hospital Center, will work with Dr. Harrison and Dr. Gliedman to provide Brooklyn patients with exceptional radiation oncology care. Drs. Rotman and Schwarz will also become partners in the Brooklyn Radiation Oncology, LLC.
