MARK AHERN APPOINTED CHIEF DEVELOPMENT OFFICER OF VANTAGE ONCOLOGY
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (April 27, 2005) – Mark Ahern has been appointed Chief Development Officer of Vantage Oncology Inc., an El Segundo, Calif.-based developer and operator of state-of-the-art radiation oncology centers.
Ahern, who has over 15 years of experience in Cancer Management, will be responsible for all aspects of Corporate Development including strategic alliances, new market acquisitions, hospital and physician joint ventures, same-market growth for affiliated centers, regional network expansion and the integration of comprehensive alliances between radiation oncology, medical oncology and urology.

Prior to joining Vantage Oncology, Ahern was President of Hepatitis C Business at First Circle Medical, Inc., where he successfully executed a global business plan that included aggressive clinical research initiatives for a drug/device therapy for the treatment of Chronic Hepatitis C. Prior to First Circle Medical, Ahern was the Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at U.S. Oncology where he led all aspects of business development – practice acquisitions, cancer center development, hospital alliances and joint ventures, physician recruitment and the implementation of new practice enhancements such as PET. Upon his departure in 2000, US Oncology had successfully grown to 1000 affiliated physicians, 85 practices throughout 28 states, over 200,000 new patients a year. Prior to US Oncology, Ahern served as Vice President of Business Development for American Oncology Resources (AOR) which became the genesis of US Oncology.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Ahern served on several Boards including Texas Oncology, P.A., Florida Community Cancer Centers, and the American Liver Foundation, Minneapolis. He received his bachelor’s degree in media communications and marketing from the University of Arizona.
