WEST HILLS RADIATION THERAPY CENTER HOSTS FIRST ANNUAL TEA PARTY FOR CANCER SURVIVORS, JULY 11 - Physician/Artist Displays “Healing Art Gallery” for Patients

WHAT:

To honor local cancer survivors, the new West Hills Radiation Therapy Center, Vantage Oncology Inc. will host its first annual tea party on Wednesday, July 11th. Highlighting the event will be a special display of the center’s “Healing Art Gallery” for patients created by Bernard S. Lewinsky, M.D., F.A.C.R., medical director of West Hills Radiation Therapy Center and also a nature photographer.

Those in attendance will be provided tea, coffee and cookies while sharing their own personal battles with cancer. In addition, Dr. Lewinsky will provide a tour of the center as well as discussing his inspiration for developing the “Healing Art Gallery.”

“As cancer specialists, we continue to work diligently to find new radiation and drug therapies to improve survival rates. However, we must not forget the emotional impact cancer has on patients and their families. By hosting events such as the tea party, we are providing a nurturing environment that enables survivors to share their experiences and hopefully lend support to those patients recently diagnosed,” said Dr. Lewinsky.

The West Hills Radiation Therapy Center offers patient access to a highly trained team of board certified radiation oncologists using the most advanced treatment options for cancer. In addition, the center boasts $5 million of new radiation treatment equipment and facility upgrades, including the latest Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) and respiratory gating technology. Under the direction of the physicians, these advanced clinical treatment options permit precise targeting of radiation to a tumor, sparing critical healthy organs, providing for better outcomes and fewer side effects for patients.
