Mark Ahern Chief Development Officer

Mr. Ahern joined Vantage Oncology as Chief Development Officer in 2005. He is the former President of First Circle Medical, Inc., a medical device company focused on developing treatments for Hepatitis C. Previously, Mr. Ahern was Senior Vice President of Corporate Development for US Oncology, a large healthcare services network dedicated to cancer treatment and research. While at US Oncology, Mr. Ahern was responsible for acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic alliances. At the time of his departure in 2000, US Oncology had grown to over 900 affiliated physicians, 460 practice locations and 85 free-standing cancer centers encompassing 32 states. Mr. Ahern earned his BA from the University of Arizona.

Dee DeLapp – Vice President, Corporate Development


With over 30 years of healthcare experience, Mr. DeLapp has held senior management positions in sales, mergers/acquisitions and business development with publicly held physician practice management companies and consulting firms.  His expertise and concentration has been in oncology, imaging, managed care, multi-specialty physician groups and hospital organizations. Prior to joining Vantage Oncology, Mr DeLapp was Vice President of Corporate Sales for McKesson Medication Management, a $500 million dollar subsidiary of publicly held McKesson Corporation. While at Preferred Oncology Networks of America (PONA), a national private practice oncology management company, he was Vice President of Operations. In addition, Mr. DeLapp was National Director of Operations for Caremark's oncology physician resource division. Before joining Caremark, he was Vice President of Development for Cancer Treatment Center of Tulsa and its related nine-member oncology practice, Oncology Care Specialists. Mr. DeLapp earned his BS and MA in Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma.

Mark Donovan – Sr. VP Strategic Planning and Business Development


With 15 years of health care experience as both an operator and investor, Mr. Donovan joined Vantage Oncology in 2008. His past experience includes Salix Ventures and Summit Partners, two prominent venture capital and private equity firms. Additionally, Mr. Donovan was instrumental in founding and growing, through its initial public offering, American Dental Partners, Inc. (NASD:ADPI). Mr. Donovan earned his MBA from the Harvard Business School and Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Princeton University.

Ed Mercado – Vice President, Operations


Mr. Mercado has been Vice President since 2005. He has over 20 years operations and development experience in the oncology space. Prior to joining Vantage Oncology, he was the managing partner with Pinellas Radiation Oncology Associates in Clearwater, Florida. While at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, Mr. Mercado was the Vice Chair for Administration and Finance for the Department of Radiation Oncology. An active member of the Society for Radiation Oncology Administrators (SROA), Mr. Mercado is the former President and Chairperson and served on the Advisory Council and as the SROA liaison to the Practice Management and Managed Care subcommittees of the Health Policy and Economic Committee (HPEC) of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO).

In addition, he is a former liaison to the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Associated Sciences Consortium. Mr. Mercado is a Certified Medical Practice Executive through the American College of Medical Practice Executives and earned an MBA from Florida Southern College.

 


Clayton H. Duncan - Vice President, Specialty Services


Mr. Duncan joined Vantage Oncology in 2011 and serves as Vice President, Specialty Services. Prior to joining Vantage Oncology, Mr. Duncan was the Vice President – Radiation Therapy at HealthTronics where he was responsible for the management, development and operations of specialty radiation therapy centers.  Prior to HealthTronics, Mr. Duncan was Vice President of Corporate Accounts for the Automation Solutions with McKesson Provider Technologies.

Mr. Duncan began his career as an attorney with Strasburger & Price, where he practiced in the Corporate (International Franchise and Distribution) section. Mr. Duncan earned a JD from Southern Methodist University, and a Master of International Management from Thunderbird, The American Graduate School of International Management, and also holds a BBA in Finance from Texas Tech University.
