Michael T. Fiore – Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder

Mr. Fiore founded Vantage Oncology in 2002 in collaboration with Dr. Leslie Botnick. He has more than 25 years of experience in the development and operation of cancer treatment facilities. Mr. Fiore and his team have successfully grown Vantage into a national organization.  In January 2011, Vantage completed an equity recapitalization with Oak Hill Capital Partners and a merger with Physician Oncology Services, creating the second largest radiation oncology company in the United States.

Mr. Fiore was previously the COO of Salick Health Care, a publicly traded cancer and dialysis services company with over 30 sites, and President of its cancer center subsidiary, prior to its successful sale to Astra Zeneca in 1997.  He has also served as CEO of InterDent, an owner and operator of 350 dental facilities throughout the United States, and as Vice President of American Medical International (now Tenet Healthcare), an owner and operator of hospitals. Mr. Fiore is a Director of the Cancer Support Community - South Bay Cities, a non-profit organization that provides a professional program of support, education and hope to cancer patients and their families free of charge. Mr. Fiore has a MBA from Harvard University, a BA in Economics and Anthropology from Amherst College and an MS in Accounting from New York University. He is a Certified Public Accountant. Mr. Fiore was named a 2010 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award Winner for the Greater Los Angeles Area.

Leslie E. Botnick, MD – Chief Medical Officer and Co-Founder


A board certified Radiation Oncologist practicing at The Center for Radiation Therapy of Beverly Hills, Dr. Botnick is Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer of Vantage Oncology.  In addition, he is the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Valley Radiotherapy Associates Medical Group.  Previously at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, Dr. Botnick was Medical Director of Radiation Oncology.

With more than 40 publications on Breast Cancer, Hodgkin’s disease, Head and Neck Cancer and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Repair, he is named as a leading physician for the treatment of Breast Cancer in Good Housekeeping Magazine and listed in Who’s Who of Doctors in America.  In addition, Dr. Botnick is associated with several Health Systems throughout Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside counties in California, including the nationally renowned John Wayne Cancer Institute.  His areas of expertise include: Breast, Prostate, Lung, Head and Neck, Pancreatic, and Colorectal Cancer as well as Hodgkin’s and Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. 

At Metropolitan Hospital in New York, he served an internship in internal medicine and did his residency at the Harvard Joint Center for Radiation Therapy in Boston where he later became Chief Resident.  Dr. Botnick earned a Bachelors of Arts Degree from Brooklyn College followed by a Medical Degree from New York Medical College.

Marshal D. Salomon – Chief Financial Officer


Mr. Salomon joined Vantage Oncology as CFO in 2002. Prior to Vantage Oncology, he was Vice President of both Finance and Corporate Development at DaVita, Inc. (NYSE: DVA), the second largest provider of dialysis services in the United States. At the time of his departure, DaVita served 43,000 patients through a network of almost 500 owned and managed outpatient facilities in 32 states. Formerly, Mr. Salomon was Vice President and General Manager of Columbia Medical Mfg. Corp., a manufacturer and marketer of rehabilitation equipment. Mr. Salomon earned a MBA from The Anderson School at UCLA and a BA in Economics from Brown University.

Mark Ahern – Chief Development Officer

Mr. Ahern joined Vantage Oncology as Chief Development Officer in 2005. He is the former President of First Circle Medical, Inc.; a medical device company focused on developing treatments for Hepatitis C. Previously, Mr. Ahern was Senior Vice President of Corporate Development for US Oncology, a large healthcare services network dedicated to cancer treatment and research. While at US Oncology, Mr. Ahern was responsible for acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic alliances. At the time of his departure in 2000, US Oncology had grown to over 900 affiliated physicians, 460 practice locations and 85 free-standing cancer centers encompassing 32 states. Mr. Ahern earned his BA from the University of Arizona.

Mark Shalvarjian – President, Operations

As President, Operations of Vantage Oncology, Mr. Shalvarjian oversees operations for the United States. Formerly, he was the Vice President of Physician Services and Payer Contracting at DaVita Inc. (NYSE: DVA), where he founded and operated DaVita's Network Affiliates division and the DaVita Nephrology Associates (DNA) division. Prior to joining DaVita, Mr. Shalvarjian was Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Interviewing Service of America, a quantitative market research firm and was a Manager at Deloitte and Touche, an international accounting and consulting firm. Mr. Shalvarjian earned a MBA from the Anderson School at UCLA and a BA in Business Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara and is a Certified Public Accountant in California.

Christopher M. Rose, MD, FACR – Chief Technology Officer

A board certified Radiation Oncologist, Dr. Rose serves both as Chief Technology Officer at Vantage Oncology and Medical Director of The Center for Radiation Therapy of Beverly Hills.  In addition, Dr. Rose is both the Technical and Associate Director of Valley Radiotherapy Associates Medical Group and a Co-Founder of Vantage Oncology.  Currently, Dr. Rose is a member of the Medicare Coverage Advisory Commission and Vice Chair of the NCI-sponsored Quality Research in Radiation Oncology Study. With more than 50 articles on the treatment of Prostate Cancer, Breast Cancer, Head and Neck Cancer and physico-chemical methods of radiation sensitization, Dr. Rose is one of three radiation oncologists to receive the Donald Coffey Clinician Scientist Award from the Prostate Cancer Foundation. In addition, he is the 2008 Gold Medalist of the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology and is listed in Best Doctors in America.

At the Institute for Cancer Research, Royal Marsden Hospital, University of London in Great Britain, Dr. Rose was a Visiting Clinical Scientist.  Previously, he was an Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology at Harvard Medical School and was Chairman of the Board of Directors and President of the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO), the professional society of Radiation Oncology.

For the California Medicare Carrier and advisor to the Health Care Financing Agency Clinical Practice Expense Panel, Dr. Rose was the Expert Physician reviewer for radiation oncology.  He is Past President of the Council of Affiliated Regional Radiation Oncology Societies of the American College of Radiology, Past President of the California Radiation Oncology Society, and Counselor of the American College of Radiology.  

At the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, Dr. Rose served an internship and residency in Internal Medicine followed by a residency in Radiation Oncology at the Harvard Joint Center for Radiation Therapy. His areas of expertise include Prostate, Breast, Skin, Rectal, Esophageal, and Lung Cancer as well as Bone Metastases. Dr. Rose earned  his M.D. from Harvard Medical School and his Bachelor of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Steve Udicious - General Counsel

After serving as outside counsel to Vantage Oncology for four years, Mr. Udicious joined the company as General Counsel in 2007. While at DaVita and its predecessor companies, Total Renal Care and Renal Treatment Centers, from 1997 to 2003, he was a member of the legal department and became General Counsel in 2000. Following his work with DaVita, Mr. Udicious opened his own private law practice. Prior to DaVita, Mr. Udicious worked at Duane Morris LLP, a large Philadelphia law firm. Mr. Udicious earned a JD from The Temple University School of Law and a Bachelor of Science from Washington & Lee University.

Albert E. Holt, IV, MD, MBA – Executive Vice President for Clinical Strategies

As Vantage’s Executive Vice President for Clinical Strategies, Dr. Holt supports the creation of oncology partnerships, enhances our value demonstration of Vantage services through improved analytics and metrics, and improves the performance of the clinical and operational teams. He has served as Chief Medical Officer of a catastrophic injury specialty company, where he worked collaboratively with clinical operations to gain efficiencies, reduce MLR (medical loss ratio), and achieve markedly increased patient volumes and clinical performance. He has also been the Senior Vice President at a national care and disease management company, where he ensured adherence to the best standards of medical practice and patient advocacy, and restructured the industry’s largest oncology case management program to incorporate new expertise and a blended model of onsite and telephonic case management, while enhancing the subspecialty expertise around oncology. He has published on estimating the clinical and economic impact of case and disease management programs.

Dr. Holt is board certified in internal medicine and critical care, and is an active critical care physician in Washington, DC. He holds multiple faculty appointments in Boston and Washington, DC metropolitan area medical schools. He earned his medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and his MBA in Medical Management from Johns Hopkins University. He completed his internal medicine training at Vanderbilt University, and fellowship training in critical care at the National Institutes of Health. His work at NIH included comparing clinical outcomes for HIV and respiratory failure in the era before and after the introduction of protease inhibitors, as well as the impact of community income on the performance of invasive procedures in the same population.

Mark Donovan – Sr. VP Strategic Planning and Business Development

With 15 years of health care experience as both an operator and investor, Mr. Donovan joined Vantage Oncology in 2008. His past experience includes Salix Ventures and Summit Partners, two prominent venture capital and private equity firms. Additionally, Mr. Donovan was instrumental in founding and growing, through its initial public offering, American Dental Partners, Inc. (NASD:ADPI). Mr. Donovan earned his MBA from the Harvard Business School and Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Princeton University

 

Joe Chang – Vice President, Operational and Strategic Support Services & Controller

Since Vantage Oncology’s inception in 2002, Mr. Chang has been Vice President of Operational and Strategic Support Services & Controller. Formerly at InterDent, a publicly traded dental practice management company, he was the Director of Taxation. From 1997 until he left in 2002, the company grew to $360 million in revenue, 250 sites and in 16 states. Prior to joining InterDent, Mr. Chang held various positions in tax and accounting in both the private and public sectors. Mr. Chang earned an MA in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from California State, Dominguez Hills.

Brian Rizkallah – Vice President, Finance

Mr. Rizkallah joined Vantage Oncology for a second time in 2011 as Vice President, Finance, where he oversees the Company's relationships with its debt and equity capital sources. From 2004-2006, he was the Company's first finance and corporate development analyst, where he helped secure the Company's early stage investments and execute its initial acquisitions.

Prior to returning to Vantage in 2011, Mr. Rizkallah was an Associate and later Vice President at FocalPoint Partners, a boutique middle-market investment bank. At FocalPoint, he advised management teams regarding mergers & acquisitions, capital raises and restructurings. Prior to his initial time with Vantage in 2004, Mr. Rizkallah was a financial analyst at Chanin Capital Partners, a boutique investment bank since acquired by Duff & Phelps. While at Chanin, he primarily advised bondholders and other creditors in large, corporate restructurings and reorganizations. Mr. Rizkallah earned an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and a BA in Business-Economics and Political Science from UCLA.

Richard Daversa – Sr. Vice President, Operations

As Sr. Vice President of Operations, Mr. Daversa, manages operations for the Northeast and Midwest regions of the United States. Prior to joining Vantage Oncology, he was the Senior Vice President, Operations for Bentley Health Care, a privately held company specializing in the development and operation of outpatient centers focused on the management of catastrophic diseases (Cancer and HIV/AIDS). For over ten years, Mr. Daversa was the Vice President, Salick Health Care and was responsible for the operations of the South Florida Comprehensive Cancer Centers. While at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for fourteen years, he held various administrative positions. Mr. Daversa earned an MA in Health Care Administration from Long Island University and a BA in Sociology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

Milton Hinkle – Vice President, Operations - West

As Vice President of Operations – West, Mr. Hinkle manages all operations for the western half of the United States. Prior to joining Vantage Oncology, he was the Associate Administrator and Director of Oncology and Cardiac Services at Providence St. Joseph's Medical Center in Burbank. In 1999, he founded Specialty Medical, now Vantage Oncology Support Services. Mr. Hinkle earned an MA in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from Atlantic College.

Veeral Desai – Vice President, Operations Strategy and Development


Mr. Desai joined Vantage Oncology in 2011 as Vice President, Operations Strategy and Development. He leads operations for the Southwest and Georgia regions. In addition, he oversees both corporate strategic planning and marketing.

Prior to joining Vantage, he was a Manager at Bain and Company where he served healthcare, technology, and private equity clients. While at Bain, he specialized in strategic and operational issues facing healthcare organizations spanning providers, payers, and medtech. Mr. Desai holds a MBA from Harvard Business School and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from University of California, Berkeley.

Maureen Murphy – Vice President, Human Resources


Ms. Murphy has been VP of Human Resources for Vantage Oncology since 2010. Previously, she was the VP of Human Resources and Risk Management at Pacific Dental Services, Inc. (PDS), a national leading dental management company. While with PDS, they were named one of Inc’s 500 Fastest Growing Companies in 2004 and remained in the top 500 in the Healthcare Sector from 2007-2010. Prior to leaving PDS, the company had grown to over 200 locations in five states employing 3500 people with approximate revenues of $350 million. Maureen previously worked at InterDent managing both HR and Risk Management. Ms. Murphy received her Bachelor of Arts with Cum Laude Honors from Hunter College (CUNY) and her HR Management from UCI, Irvine, CA.  Devoted to lifelong education, Maureen attends ongoing programs at Human Capital Institute.
